Silent Leather.

The motto of many Plattler and Trachtenvereine is:  Treu dem guten alten Brauch (Be true to the good old traditions).  In this spirit, the Alpenland Tänzer fondly remember in our hearts, the past members, who are no longer with us.

Heinz Martin
July 17, 1934 - January 14, 2000

Heinz, a husband, father, Opa and Opie and a family man.  His interests included his garden, yard, home improvements, his computer, his cats (even though he pretended not to like them), German/American Day Committee and the Alpenland Tänzer.  An active member of the dance group for many years, not only in dancing, but taking it upon himself to transport and set up the music at practices and performances, not only for the adults but also for the Kindergruppe.  He was the first one at practice and at performances.  As you all now, things had to be done his way, no matter what it pertained to.  He was truly happy when his grandchildren Katie, Gary, and Steven joined the Kindergruppe.  A highlight for Heinz was when he danced with his grandchildren.

Heinz was a very determined and positive person.  When he found out he was sick he continued doing everything, attending all dance practice, German/American Day meetings and performances.

He was a special man and he touched many lives.  We are all better people for his having touched ours.
